NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has aroused among the youth an awareness of the realities of life and a better understanding and appreciation of the problems of people. The NSS is thus a concrete attempt in making education relevant to the needs of society. The NSS aims at instilling in the youth, a social consciousness with the overall objective of the personality development of the students through community service.

Motto: "Not me, but you"

In the National Policy on Education (1968) it is stated that work experience and national service, including participation in meaningful and challenging programmes of community service and national reconstruction, should become an integral part of education, emphasis being made on self help, character formation and on developing a sense of social commitment.

The real success of the learning is to apply gained knowledge, and NSS at JCW symbolizes the same. The Volunteers contributes in diverse fields for upliftment of society. The Volunteers consist of a group of passionate students who sincerely want to work for society, especially for the needy people of the society. They have been working in the campus and outside. There are some remarkable social service activities done by the unit which contribute towards not only betterment of human society but bio-diversity as well. N.S.S organizes annual camps in villages, where problems relating to water, health, electricity, sanitation etc are dealt with. Villagers are made aware of the welfare schemes of the Government. Through these camps the volunteers learn civic sense and responsibility.
